Huff Places Second as Hawks Finish Fifth in Opener

Sunapee, N.H. (January 9) -- Led by a second-place finish by junior co-captain Maura Huff (Russell, Mass.), the Saint Anselm women's ski team placed fifth at the Colby-Sawyer Carnival in the giant slalom competition.

Freshman Lauren Burgess (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) placed 24th in her first collegiate competition with a combined time of 1:51.59. Junior co-captain Erin Forbes (Hanover, Maine) placed 39th in 1:54.27, followed by Jacqui Cloud (Winsted, Conn.) in 48th.

Huff was in second place after the first run of the day and had the fastest second run in a time of 52.92, outdistancing the second-place run by .5 seconds.

The Hawks are back in action on Saturday as the Hawks will again compete at the Colby-Sawyer Carnival at Mount Sunapee.
