November 19, 2009
Manchester, N.H. (November 19) -- Kate Gaudreau has been named as the women's lacrosse interim head coach and will serve as the team's head coach for the 2010 season, announced Dr. Jo-Ann Nester, director of athletics.
"I am very happy that Kate Gaudreau has agreed to serve as the interim head women's lacrosse coach here at Saint Anselm," said Dr. Nester. "We believe with Kate taking the lead we will have a very seamless transition and the program will be in very good hands. The student athletes on the team are very pleased with the decision and know coach Gaudreau well, since she served as the assistant coach for the program before being promoted to the interim position. We are looking forward to a successful and exciting season."
Gaudreau also serves as the field hockey coach at Saint Anselm and she recently completed her third season as the program's head coach.
Gaudreau came to Saint Anselm from St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg, Mass., where she has served as the varsity field hockey head coach since 2003. In addition to her highly successful field hockey teams, she also coached freshman basketball at St. Bernard's from 2004-2007.
In addition to her coaching success, Gaudreau also enjoyed tremendous success on the playing field. The all-time leading scorer in Saint Anselm history despite playing just two seasons, she is a former team captain for the Hawks and was a Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team selection in 2001 and the recipient of the team's Coach's Award.
A 2003 graduate of Saint Anselm with a bachelor of arts degree in history, Gaudreau went on to earn her master's of arts degree in American history from Providence College in 2005.
Gaudreau resides in Goffstown, N.H., with her husband, Steve, and their son, Paul. Steve is the Saint Anselm men's lacrosse head coach.
