Johnson, Zappen Honored by ECAC East

Centerville, Mass. (January 6)-Senior tri-captain Kelsey Johnson (Byfield, Mass.) and freshman goaltender Amy Zappen (Huntington Beach, Calif.) were named ECAC East Player and Rookie of the Week respectively, for their efforts in the 2009 Saint Anselm Tournament this past weekend.
Johnson scored the game-winner in the opening game of the tournament this past Saturday. Johnson's overtime goal lifted the Hawks past the Ephs of Williams College 4-3 and she also added two assists the next day in a 3-1 victory over Bowdoin College.
Zappen made 23 saves on 24 shots faced in the 3-1 victory over NESCAC rival Bowdoin College in the second game of the tournament. The freshman picked up her second victory of the season in the effort.
The lady Hawks hit the ice again, Friday, January 16th, as they will host the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College at 4 p.m. at Sullivan Arena.
