Hawks Finish in 12th at Northeast-10 Championship
October 25, 2009Colchester, Vt. (October 24) -- On Sunday afternoon, the Saint Anselm men's cross country team finished 12th of 15 teams at the 2009 Northeast-10 Conference Championship, hosted by Saint Michael's. Stonehill took the team title, while AIC's Glarius Rop won the individual title in an NE-10 Championship record time of 24:22. The Hawks, who had two of their top runners battling the flu throughout the week, finished with 336 points.
Senior co-captain Nick Provost (Keene, N.H.) was the top Hawk finisher in 82nd place with a time of 28:26. Two seconds behind Provost was sophomore Christopher Powers (Haverhill, Mass.) in 83rd place, followed by sophomore John Surabian (Saugus, Mass.) in 92nd at 29:04. Junior co-captain Drew Matthews (Madison, Conn.) placed 107th in a time of 30:20, while freshman Joshua Reali (Cumberland, Maine) was 123rd in a time fo 32:27.
Sophomores Ben Horton (Manchester, N.H.), Stephen Moran (Southborough, Mass.) and Mark Fahey (Malden, Mass.) were the final three runners for the Hawks. Horton placed 130th in 34:21, while Moran was 131st in 35:11 and Fahey placed 135th in a time of 40:41.
