Hawks Place 43rd at New England Championships

Boston, Mass. (October 10) -- At the New England Cross Country Championships at Franklin Park, the Saint Anselm men's cross country team placed 43rd out of 47 teams with 1320 points. The Hawks were led by junior co-captain Drew Matthews (Madison, Conn.), who finished in a time of 27:33. UMass Lowell won the men's team event with a total of 93 points.

Matthews finished the race in 241st place, running at a 5:36 pace. Senior co-captain Nick Provost (Keene, N.H.) finished in 251st place in 27:50, followed by sophomore Christopher Powers (Haverhill, Mass.) in 254th place in a time fo 27:57. Closing out the scoring for the Hawks were sophomores John Surabian (Saugus, Mass.) and Ben Horton (Manchester, N.H.), who finished in times of 28:35 and 33:04, respectively.

The Hawks are back in action on Saturday, October 17th as the team travels to the Plansky Invitational, hosted by Williams College.
