Men's and Women's Skiing Sixth at UConn Slalom

North Conway, N.H. (January 16) -- The Saint Anselm men's and women's ski teams both placed sixth in the slalom competition on day one of the UConn Carnival at Mount Cranmore in frigid conditions on Friday.
The women's team was led by a seventh-place finish by junior co-captain Maura Huff (Russell, Mass.). Huff had a combined time of 1:50.85, including a second run of 58.02. That second run was the fifth-fastest time of the afternoon session. Freshman Lauren Burgess (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) placed 30th for the Hawks in 1:57.56, followed by co-captain Erin Forbes (Hanover, Maine) in 37th place. Jacqui Cloud (Winsted, Conn.) and Cara Suglia (Andover, Mass.) placed 43rd and 49th, respectively, to round out the top five for the Hawks.
On the men's side, Matt Pelucacci (Gouldsboro, Pa.) led the Hawks in 26th place in a time of 1:52.25. Freshman Connor Lee (Rexford, N.Y.) continued to perform well as he finished in 31st in 1:54.23. Sam Piper (Dalton, Mass.) was 33rd, followed by Mike Maroni (Plymouth, N.H.) in 37th and Andrew Ross (Wilbraham, Mass.) right behind him in 38th place.
Saint Anselm is back in action on Saturday at Mount Cranmore as the team competes in the Giant Slalom competition at the UConn Carnival.
