Three Hawks Earn NE-10 All-Conference Honors

Easton, Mass. (April 28) -- Three members of the Saint Anselm men's lacrosse team have been named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference teams, as announced by the league office and as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Senior attack Chris Murphy (Winchester, Mass.) earned First Team honors for the first time in his career. The team's leading scorer, Murphy leads the Hawks with 47 points on 33 goals and 14 assists in 2009. He ranks fourth in the Northeast-10 in goals per game, fifth in points per game and 10th in assists per game. For his career, Murphy has 162 points and 122 goals, along with 40 assists. His 162 points rank him fifth on the all-time Saint Anselm scoring list, just four points out of fourth place. In addition, his 122 goals is fourth all-time, trailing the third-place total by three scores. Murphy was a Second Team All-Conference selection in 2008.
Senior midfielder Matt Surette (Wakefield, Mass.) was named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team, his first NE-10 All-Conference honors of his career. An All-New England Second Team honoree in 2008, Surette has 26 goals and four assists for 30 points this season. For his career, he has 77 goals, ranking him eighth all-time at Saint Anselm. Surette is also eighth in the Northeast-10 in goals per game.
Junior Kevin DeBenedetto (Reading, Mass.) also earned Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team honors for the first time in his career. A two-time All-New England First Team selection, DeBenedetto leads the Hawks with 15 caused turnovers and has 28 ground balls to go with three goals and one assist.
The Hawks are in action on Tuesday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Quarterfinals, the team's third-straight appearance in the league tournament. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Saint Michael's, with the winner advancing to the Northeast-10 semifinals to take on top-ranked Le Moyne College.
