Men's Hockey Opens up Season Friday Night

Manchester, N.H. (November 20)-The Saint Anselm men's ice hockey team opens up the 2008-09 season at home this Friday, November 21st, with a game against ECAC East foe Skidmore College at Sullivan Arena at 7 p.m.

The Hawks under eighth year head coach Ed Seney, return eight players with at least 10 points. Sophomore forwards Ryan Butler (Arlington, Mass.), Coleman Noonan (Norfolk, Mass.) and Paul Snell (Groton, Mass.) each had solid freshman campaigns last season. Butler leads returnees with 15 points on six goals and nine assists. Noonan finished with five goals and eight assists for 13 points, while Snell posted 12 points on seven goals and five assists, including two game-winning goals.

In between the pipes the Hawks return senior goaltender Pat Gallagher (Framingham, Mass.). Gallagher compiled an 8-4-0 record with a 2.49 goals against average (GAA), 338 saves, a .918 save percentage, and over 600 minutes of play. The Hawks also welcome Alex Wyse (Amherst, N.Y.), a transfer from Clarkson University, who will be in the mix for some playing time in net for Saint Anselm.

The men's game is set to start at 7 p.m. at Sullivan Arena. The women's ice hockey game will start at 4 p.m. against ECAC East opponent Plymouth State College.

Ticket prices for the men's game are six dollars for adults and three dollars for students (other than Saint Anselm College). All Saint Anselm College students, faculty, and staff members get in for FREE with a valid college I.D. Get out to the game and support the Hawks!!!
