Profile: An extremely long player who has the ability to rebound the ball at either end... Needs to rebound after a tough sophomore season... Has the potential to be a very good player in the NE-10, once he regains his confidence.

2008-2009: Played in all 30 games, starting six... Averaged 4.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game... Ended the year with three straight double-digit games, including a 20-point effort at American International on 2-28-09 in the first round of the Northeast-10 Tournament... Had nine rebounds at Pace on 2-10-09... Hit 8-of-12 shots at American International... Shot 48.1 percent from the field and was 29-for-41 at the free throw line, good for a 70.7 percent clip... Named to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll in the final week of the season averaging over 15 points per game in the league tournament.

2007-2008: Appeared in all 27 games with 16 starts as a sophomore... Averaged 6.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game... Had a pair of double-doubles, including a season-high 16-point, 11-rebound double-double at Bryant on 1-30-08... Knocked down 7-of-15 shots from the field at Saint Rose on 1-8-08 in a road win... Also scored 16 points in the win at Saint Rose, tying a season high... Had a career-high three blocks vs. Bryant on 11-20-07... Tied a career high with a pair of steals in three games... Had a career-high four assists on 12-4-07 vs. Southern N.H.

2006-2007:  Tied for second on the team in scoring at 10.3 points per game and led the team with 6.5 rebounds per contest, ranking among the league leaders all season... Earned a spot on the Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie Team, was a one-time conference Rookie of the Week on February 5th and was named to the league's Weekly Honor Roll six times... Third on the team with 18 blocks after appearing in all but one game, starting 23... Finished with nine double-doubles, including a career-best 28-point, 16-rebound effort vs. Saint Michael's on 1-13-07... Hit nine field goals in two games, including most recently vs. Pace on 2/3/07... Was perfect from the free throw line 11 times, including a perfect 8-for-8 vs. Saint Michael's on 1-13-07.

Previous: Carenza played at St. Anthony's of Jersey City, N.J., under legendary coach Bob Hurley. His team finished the season with a 27-4 record and was ranked fifth in the state of New Jersey. He averaged over 12 points and seven rebounds per game and was named as a First Team All-Hudson County selection.

Coach Dickson on Carenza: "Gio is coming off a down season and hopefully he can get himself back to being a consistently productive basketball player. He had a very good freshman year and has the skills necessary to be a good player in the NE-10. Gio needs to regain his confidence and play the game with maturity on both ends of the court. He is very long and we need for him to rebound both backboards on a nightly basis."

Personal: Son of Mario and Vita... Raised in Reggio Emilia, Italy, and moved to the United States in the summer of 2003... Majoring in criminal justice.
