Hawks Fall in Nail Biter to AIC by 3-2 Final

Manchester, N.H. (October 17) -- Mackenzie Kewley capped off a hat trick in the final minutes for American International as the Yellow Jackets came away with a 3-2 victory over Saint Anselm on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action.

The Hawks took an early 1-0 just 2:34 into the game as junior captain Sara Griffin (Derry, N.H.) tallied her first career score. Karrie Muma (No. Falmouth, Mass.) assisted on the goal, her second assist of the season. AIC tied the game with 2:34 left in the first half on a goal by Kewley and took the lead at the 39:20 mark on an unassisted Kewley score.

Saint Anselm tied the game again at the 59:33 mark of the game as sophomore Morgan Seney (Bow, N.H.) scored her third goal of the season for the 2-2 score. The goal was off of a penalty corner, assisted on by Maddie Cantarow (Norwood, Mass.) and Maura Hurley (Holden, Mass.). Kewley lifted the Yellow Jackets to the victory with under four minutes left though, scoring her third goal of the game and the season for the 3-2 victory.

Lindsay MacDonald (Dedham, Mass.) had eight saves in the loss for Saint Anselm. With the loss, Saint Anselm is now 1-14 overalll and 0-8 in the Northeast-10, while AIC improves to 5-11 overall and 3-5 in the league.
