Hawks Sign Three to National Letters of Intent

Manchester, N.H. (May 7) -- Saint Anselm field hockey head coach Kathryn Gaudreau has announced that Nicole Ward, Maura Hurley and Kathleen DeVylder have signed National Letters of Intent to play at Saint Anselm beginning in the fall of 2009.

Ward, a defender and midfielder at Exeter (N.H.) High School, was a Class L First Team selection, MVP of her high school team as a senior and won the team's Scholar-Athlete Award. In addition to her high school team, she has played for Seacoast United, Futures and New England Hockey Mates. As a senior, she helped lead her team to the state semifinals.

Hurley is a midfielder and defender who played high school field hockey at Notre Dame Academy in Worcester, Mass. A three-year starter, Hurley helped lead her team to three district championships, one state championship and two appearances in the state final. She is a two-time Central Mass. All-Star, a two-time Telegram and Gazette Honor Team All-Star and was named to the Best of 60 Team once during her career. She also participated in the Bay State Games.

DeVylder is a defender who played high school field hockey at Cheshire (Conn.) High School. A three-sport athlete in high school who also played basketball and lacrosse, DeVylder played club field hockey for the Connecticut Revolution, Connecticut Crush and also participated in USA Futures. She was named to the Southern Connecticut Conference All-Academic Team for field hockey, basketball and lacrosse and was the team captain of the field hockey team.
