Rob Eggerling returns for his second season as the assistant head coach, defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Saint Anselm. Eggerling came to the Hilltop from Hartwick College, where he served as the team's defensive coordinator for two seasons.
In 2007, he helped direct Hartwick to an 8-3 record, an Empire 8 Championship and a berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs. His 2007 defensive unit ranked 22nd in total takeaways and 19th nationally in interceptions. Prior to his appointment as defensive coordinator, Eggerling was the team's defensive line coach in 2005. Hartwick racked up 489.3 yards of total offense per game, ranking the team 10th in NCAA Division III. They created the necessary holes to run through as the team rushed for 1,712 yards (171.2 per game) and 19 touchdowns. The offensive line guarded the pocket as well as the team's quarterback completed 181-of-353 passes for 2,948 yards and 34 touchdowns. In 2004, Eggerling's first season at Hartwick, he was the team's offensive line coach.
Prior to his arrival at Hartwick, Eggerling spent the 2003 season at the University of New Hampshire. He arrived at UNH in the spring of 2002 as the defensive ends coach and moved to coaching the outside linebackers for the 2003 season. Before his stint at the University of New Hampshire, Eggerling was in Canton, N.Y. at Saint Lawrence University, where he was a graduate assistant coaching linebackers in the 2001-2002 seasons. He began his coaching career as an intern strength and conditioning coach at Syracuse University in 2001.
Eggerling was a four-year letterwinner in football, as well as a one-year letterwinner in baseball, at Southern Connecticut State University. Eggerling is a native of Syracuse, N.Y., who attended Paul V. Moore High School. He then went on to attend Bridgton Academy in North Bridgton, Maine.
A 2001 graduate of Southern Connecticut, he earned his bachelor degree in exercise science. He also graduated with his master's degree from Saint Lawrence University in 2003.
Rob and his wife, Nikki, a graduate of Le Moyne College, reside
in Manchester, New Hampshire, with their two sons, Ian and Nathan.
