Drew Owens returns for his second season as an assistant coach for the Saint Anselm football program and will serve as the team's offensive line coach again this season. In addition, Owens now serves as the program's Director of Football Operations.
Owens was an All-Conference player in high school and earned a full scholarship to the University of Rhode Island, earning Academic All-Conference honors during his freshman year. After his redshirt sophomore year at URI and after 18 straight starts, Owens transferred to Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, where he was a starter on the line as a junior before his career was cut short due to injury just before his senior year. He graduated from Otterbein with a degree in history.
In 2007, Owens served as the offensive line coach at Westerville Central High School (Ohio), where the line helped the Warhawks rush for over 2,000 yards and produce 3,400 yards of total offense in the season. Westerville is one of the largest high schools in Ohio and is a Division I school in the Ohio Capital Conference.
