Easton, Mass. -- Five members of the Saint Anselm football team have been honored by the Northeast-10 as members of the 2009 Northeast-10 All-Conference Teams, as voted by the league's head coaches and announced late Friday afternoon by the league office.

Hawks Fall to Southern Conn. in Season Finale
Manchester, N.H. (November 7) -- In the 2009 season finale, the Saint Anselm football team dropped a 71-14 final to visiting Southern Connecticut at Grappone Stadium. Saint Anselm ends the season at 2-8 overall and 1-7 in league play, while the Owls finish at 6-4 overall.

Manchester, N.H. (October 31) -- Despite holding a nine-point fourth-quarter lead, the Saint Anselm football team couldn't hold off fast-charging New Haven as the vistors scored twice late in the fourth for a 47-43 comeback victory at a blustery Grappone Stadium on Saturday.

Manchester, N.H. (October 31) -- At a somber Grappone Stadium on Saturday morning, the Saint Anselm College community remembered Marine Captain Kyle Van De Giesen '02, a former Saint Anselm football quarterback who was killed earlier this week in Afghanistan.

Boston, Mass. (October 28) -- For the second time this season, Saint Anselm freshman quarterback Michael Pierce (Andover, Mass.) has been named as the Greater Boston Gridiron Club Gold Helmet Award winner, awarded this afternoon at Dillon Fieldhouse at Harvard University.

Saint Anselm College Mourns Fallen Hero
Saint Anselm College mourns the loss of Marine Captain Kyle Van De Giesen '02 who was killed in action on Monday while serving his country in Afghanistan. A criminal justice major, Kyle was the starting quarterback for the Hawks on the 1999 football team.

Pierce Named NE-10 Offensive Player of the Week
Easton, Mass. (October 26) -- Saint Anselm freshman quarterback Michael Pierce has been named as the Northeast-10 Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Pierce has also been named as the league's Freshman of the Week for the second time this season.

Hawks Fall at Stonehill in Final Minute, 31-28
Easton, Mass. (October 24) -- After rallying for a 28-24 lead in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, Saint Anselm couldn't hold on as Stonehill scored on a four-yard touchdown catch by Eddie Vachon to come away with the 31-28 win in the 2009 Battle for the Ol' Bronze Hawk.

Saint Anselm (2-5, 1-4) travels to Stonehill (2-5, 1-4) on Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. start at W.B. Mason Stadium in Easton, Mass. The game is the 2009 Hawk Classic, a rivalry game started in 2006. The Skyhawks took the 2008 edition by a 35-0 final in Manchester.

Springfield, Mass. (October 3) -- On a rainy Saturday afternoon, the Saint Anselm football team dropped a narrow 17-14 final to American International in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Hawks used two second-half touchdowns to pull to within three late.

Sylvain Earns Second Northeast-10 Freshman Award
South Easton, Mass. (September 28) -- Freshman defensive back Ethan Sylvain (East Montpelier, Vt.) has been named as the Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week for the second time this season. In all, Saint Anselm has won four of the five weekly freshman awards this season.

During the 2009 Saint Anselm football preseason, the Hawks were addressed by Harvey C. "Barney" Barnum, a 1962 graduate of Saint Anselm College. Barnum earned the Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroic acts in Vietnam.

Saint Anselm plays host to Merrimack on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. at Grappone Stadium. The game is the 11th meeting all-time between the two schools with Merrimack holding a 6-4 advantage. Saint Anselm won the 2008 meeting, 48-42.

Easton, Pa. -- A record 1,733 high school students participated in the sixth annual Lauren's First and Goal Football Camp at Lafayette College. The one-day clinic featured 275 college coaches, including Saint Anselm coaches Ted Florio and Drew Owens.

Manchester, N.H. (May 7) -- Senior linebacker Dan Bohenek (Bridgewater, Mass.) has been named as a Consensus Draft Service (CDS) Division II Preseason Honorable Mention All-American. Bohenek led the Hawks with 91 tackles last season.
