Manzi Commits To Hawk Baseball Class of 2013
January 12, 2009
Manchester, N.H. (January 12) - Richie Manzi, a native of Plymouth, N.H., has committed to play baseball at Saint Anselm College, announced Saint Anselm baseball head coach Barry Rosen. Manzi is expected to compete for the starting shortstop position in the 2010 season.
"Richie Manzi is a very athletic player who has played at a very competitive level in high school and during the summers," said Rosen. "He is a very steady shortstop with good range, advanced fielding skills and a plus arm. As a hitter, he has line-drive type gap power. He has had great success with runners in scoring position because he makes consistent, hard contact. We are extremely pleased that he has decided to attend Saint Anselm and play for the Hawks."
As a junior at Plymouth Regional High School, Manzi batted .540 with one home run and was named as a First Team All-State selection. During the summer of 2008, Manzi played for the NH Storm 19-U team, batting .404 with a .485 on-base percentage and a .950 fielding percentage. He finished with 23 hits and 13 runs batted in, played in the Myrtle Beach Triple Crown Tournament and was selected for the 18-U All-Star Team
In addition to his baseball accomplishments, Manzi is an honor roll student and was a four-year quarterback that directed the Plymouth Regional High School team to a 44-0 record and four state championship wins. He is also the team captain and points leader on the hockey team and plays drums in the school band.
