October 20, 2009
Manchester, N.H. (October 20) -- For their play during the week ending October 18, Marc Wilson (Farmington, Conn.) and Heidi Reece (Salem, N.Y.) have been named as this week's Saint Anselm Male and Female Athletes of the Week, as selected by the Sports Information Office.
Wilson, the Saint Anselm single-season record holder for rushing yards, added another pair of records to his season as he set single-game marks for kickoff return yards (209) and all-purpose yards (274) in a Homecoming loss to Assumption on Saturday. Wilson returned the opening kickoff for a 92-yard touchdown, the second kickoff return for a touchdown in school history and the second-longest kickoff return in school history. Wilson leads the Northeast-10 in all-purpose yards and ranks third in the league in both receptions per game and receiving yards per game. One of the most versatile offensive players in the Northeast-10, Wilson has 45 catches for 558 yards and six touchdowns, along with completing 7-of-10 passes for a pair of touchdowns. He has also added another 393 yards on 17 kickoff returns and is on pace to break the Saint Anselm single-season record for all-purpose yards.
Reece, who has started all 73 games during her four-year Saint Anselm career, tallied her 50th career point in an overtime loss at New Haven on Saturday. Reece is third on the team this season with nine points as she has four goals, including two game-winning scores, to go along with one assist. For her career, she now has 19 goals and 13 assists for 51 total points.
