Colella, Dickson Named as Athletes of the Week

Sophomore men's soccer midfielder Justin Colella (Wilmington, Mass.) and women's soccer senior defender Michelle Dickson (Bedford, N.H.) have been named as the Saint Anselm Male and Female Athletes of the Week.

Colella lifted the men's soccer team into the Northeast-10 Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2003 as he curled in a shot from the top of the box in the first half to give the Hawks a 1-0 win at Southern New Hampshire. This marks the first time under the current tournament format, established in 2000, that a No. 8 seed has defeated the No. 1 seed in the first round. The Hawks travel to Southern Connecticut for a 4 p.m. start on Wednesday at Jess Dow Field in West Haven, Conn.

Dickson helped anchor the Saint Anselm defense that came away with a 2-0 home win over Bentley University in the final game of the regular season to clinch a berth in the Northeast-10 Tournament as the No. 7 seed. Dickson was also honored by the Northeast-10 as a Third Team All-Conference selection, as voted by the league's head coaches. The Hawks eventually fell to No. 22 ranked and second-seeded Franklin Pierce by a 3-0 final in the Northeast-10 quarterfinals.
